The deadline for shipping is fast approaching and with all projects there comes a time where cuts need to be made in order to ship the product. In the case of Brainsss, we had very lofty, yet achievable goals for our game, but some of our ideas, we just don’t have the time to implement. I thought I’d share some of the features we’re cutting and why. I was reflecting back on our IGF submission of Brainsss for GDC and was thinking how things went rather smoothly. We really don’t have any hacks or shortcuts for the game, and we didn’t have to crunch. I’m proud of that. |

Rod started off as a technical artist and has now ranked up to becoming a full fledged programmer. Since he has a background creating tools and scripts for people, this has helped me out a lot on a day to day basis. Software upgrades come down the pipe frequently but they are a double edged sword. Firstly they provide new features and tools but also potentially introduce new issues that can potentially derail production. |
