I’ve heard the term ‘secret sauce’ recently in reference to that special something that takes a game from being good to being great. To understand and deliver this ‘sauce’ is to develop a game that’s guaranteed* popular and fun. Specifically the reference I heard it in relation to was The FPS (frames per second) of FPSs (first-person shooters). We finally have a working GUI in the game. You can start up the game, go through the main menu, select levels, play a level, and go back to the main menu. I had no idea what a big difference this would make to the overall feel of our game.
